Burhanettin Duran received his BA in Political Science and International Relations from Bogazici University in 1993, his MA and Ph.D. at the department of Political Science and Public Administration from Bilkent University in 2001. He became an associate professor in 2006 and professor in 2013 and at the present is a faculty member at Ibn Haldun University. Author of Turkish and English books and articles that focus on the transformation of Islamism, Turkish political thought, Turkish foreign policy and Middle Eastern Politics, Eastern Mediterranean, Europe, democracy and civil society, Prof. Duran is currently the General Coordinator of SETA Foundation. In October 2018, Prof. Duran was appointed as a member of Turkish Presidency’s Security and Foreign Policies Council.
