Fahrettin Altun, Professor of Communication Sciences, completed his doctorate in Istanbul University. He was involved in academic studies in the USA for a while. He also served as a lecturer, Head of Department and Dean Faculty in Istanbul Şehir University, Istanbul Medeniyet University and Ibn Haldun University. Furthermore, he was in charge as the General Coordinator of SETA. Professor Altun worked as a columnist and editor-in-chief in many printed media and publishing companies. He prepared news and discussion programs for national television channels. Professor Altun, who has done researches in the fields of Turkish modernization, political communication and cultural studies, also wrote books entitled “Modernization Theory and Turkey as a Stabilizing Power in an Age of Turmoil”.Moreover, he contributed to some books such as Press Freedom in Turkey, The Triumph of Turkish Democracy, and Media on 15 July, The Origins of Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism Strategy as a chapter writer.
Altun was appointed as the Presidential Communications Director in 2018.
