Prof. İbrahim Kalın graduated from Istanbul University, Department of History. He earned his Master’s degree at Malaysia International Islamic University and his doctorate in philosophy and comparative humanities at George Washington University. He gave lectures on Islamic thought and Islam-Western relations at the College of the Holy Cross, Georgetown University, and Bilkent University. With his book, İslam ve Batı (Islam and the West) he was granted the Idea of the Year Award by the Writers Union of Türkiye in 2007.
He was the founding president of the SETA Foundation between 2005-2009. He was appointed as Senior Counsellor responsible for Foreign Affairs to the Prime Minister in 2009, as the Deputy Undersecretary of the Prime Ministry in 2012, and as of 2014, as the Deputy Secretary-General of the Presidency and as the Presidential Spokesperson.
Kalın became a professor in 2020. He currently serves as the Presidential Spokesperson and the Senior Counsellor of the Presidency.
