Chairman of Ankara Russian Studies Institute and faculty member at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Prof. Salih Yılmaz’s research area is Central Asian Turkish history and the regions where Russia is active. He received his Bachelor’s degree at Gazi University, Department of Türkiye and Social Sciences Education, his Master’s degree at Sakarya University with his thesis titled “Karakalpak Turks in the New Age” and his doctorate with the study of “Karakalpak Turks and History of Karakalpakistan (1873-2003)” at Ankara University, Department of General Turkish History. Between 2014-2015, he worked as a visiting professor at the Moscow Maxim Gorky Institute in Russia. He has books and articles on Russia’s foreign policy and security doctrines, Russia’s Syria policy, and Russia-Türkiye relations.
