Professor of communication, academician and author, Nabi Avcı once held the positions of the Minister of Education (2013-2016) and Minister of Culture and Tourism (2016-2017). He graduated from Middle East Technical University Faculty of Administrative Sciences and he received his PhD in Communication Sciences at Anadolu University. He gave lectures on philosophy and sociology of communication at Anadolu University and Istanbul Bilgi University. He worked as a producer, columnist and chief editorial consultant in various national TV channels, journals and newspapers. He took up the duties of Counsellor to the Prime Minister (2013), Member of the Supreme Council of Science and Technology at Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and the President of the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO. He has numerous books, as original and translation, on the history of thinking, communication, education, human and society, and literature.
