
Over his Ministry of Foreign Affairs career of 39 years, Volkan Bozkır took up the duties of Vice Consul for Stuttgart General Consulate, First Secretary for Baghdad Embassy, Counselor to the Permanent Delegation to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Consul General of New York, Ambassador of Bucharest, and Permanent Representative of Türkiye to the European Union. In addition to his positions as Foreign Policy Advisor to the former Prime Minister Turgut Özal’s Office, Chief of Cabinet and Chief Foreign Policy Advisor to former presidents Turgut Özal and Süleyman Demirel, Deputy Under Secretary and Deputy Secretary General for EU Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Secretary General for EU Affairs. He was appointed as State Minister and Chief Negotiator for EU Affairs in August 2014 and assumed his duty till June 2016. President of the 75th UN General Assembly (September 2020-2021) Volkan Bozkır is currently AK Party (Justice and Development Party) Deputy of Istanbul.
