Prof. Hilmi Demir is conducting researches on Hanafism, Maturidiism, radicalization, Salafism, sectarian conflicts and Islamic movements. In addition to being a faculty member of the Faculty of Theology at Hitit University, Hilmi Demir is also the Director of the Middle East and Central Asian Studies Institute, which was established within the Turkish Economic Policy Research Foundation (TEPAV). He graduated from the Department of Theology at Ankara University. He completed his Master’s degree with the thesis on “The Relation of Reason and Revelation in the Qur’an” at the same university, and his doctorate with his thesis, “The Logical Structure of Evidence and Ideation”. He was appointed as an Assistant Professor to Gazi University Çorum Faculty of Theology and there he held the position of Vice Dean. Demir served as a visiting professor and Head of Philosophy and Religious Studies Department at Osh State University in Kyrgyzstan (2002-2003).
