Prof. Cengiz Çakmaz is the Head of the Department of Philosophy and the History of Philosophy in the Faculty of Literature at Istanbul University. He graduated from the department of Philosophy at Istanbul University. He received his Master’s degree with his thesis, “Factual Language and Philosophical Problems in Wittgenstein’s Early Philosophy” and his PhD with his thesis, “On the Problem of Meaning in Plato’s Philosophy” in the same department. His work focuses on ontology, ethics, philosophy of language, Heraclitus, Gorgias, Xenophanes, Plato, Schoupenhuer, and Wittgenstein. In addition to his translations of Heraclitus and Epicharmus, he has contributed to many books as a chapter author.
